Default All-glass Undersea Restaurant Opens

"The Maldives 15 April marks the day that the first ever all-glass undersea restaurant in the world opens its doors for business at the Hilton Maldives Resort & Spa. Ithaa* will sit five meters below the waves of the Indian Ocean, surrounded by a vibrant coral reef and encased in clear acrylic offering diners 270-degrees of panoramic underwater views.

This innovative restaurant is the first of its kind in the world, and is part of a US $25 million re-build of Rangalifinolhu Island, one of the twin islands that make up Hilton Maldives Resort & Spa. This re-build includes the construction of 79 of the most luxurious Beach Villas in the country as well as the Spa Village, a self-contained, over-water 'resort-within-a-resort' consisting of a spa, restaurant and 21 villas. They have a walkway like this in the Bahamas, it is in the Atlantis Resort.
Looks neat, eating like the fishy's, under water.
Those stairs don't look handicap excessable though, wouldn't fly (or should I say "sink"), building it like that in the states.
At night, the lights should draw all kinds of fish around it.
Great article.

I wouldn't be able to eat. I would be paranoid the whole time. I mean what if the waiter trips and his tray goes flying and cracks the glass?

Now THAT would be a neat place to dine! I bet they sell a lot of wine with the food. There'll be a few nervous people there, for sure. Do you get to point to a fish and say "I'd like THAT one, broiled with a bit of lemon"? Do the sharks come up to the glass, and fantasize about all those tasty people in there?

I'm wondering, does anybody else like to SCUBA dive? My wife and I (and the kids, too, when they're free) absolutely LOVE to dive, and have been pretty much everywhere in the Caribbean. We haven't been out in the Pacific yet, but hope to do so soon.
