engraved bracelets with PalmControl
These bracelets I engraved with the Chasing PalmControl. They were engraved in the flat and then were formed into this synclastic form with a press.

Re: engraved bracelets with PalmControl
Nice Jack,
Does the press have any effect on the engraving as far as smashing places or rounding corners etc.? Ray |

Re: engraved bracelets with PalmControl
We've actually engraved some tricky conchas - in the flat - then domed them without noticeable distortion. Almost all domed bracelets we work on are engraved flat and then domed.
Depends on how much you stretch the metal, in which direction(s), and most importantly - whether or not you are using a conforming type of die. If the work bottoms out, you'll definitely damage it. Using one of the thick urethanes to press into has never caused a problem... yet? Brian P. Marshall Stockton Jewelry Arts School Stockton, CA USA 209-477-0550 instructor@jewelryartschool.com |

Re: engraved bracelets with PalmControl
Yes, very good work, Jack. At first I was surprised to hear you bent the metal after engraving. Then I thought...why not.

Re: engraved bracelets with PalmControl
Ya guys it is a lot easier to engrave in the flat and the press go's very fast. All the finishing is done before the press so they are ready to go after its done. A little adjustment is needed to the size but that is all. Jack

What does this press look like? Is it like an arbor press? Mike |
